Come and See (A Celebration of the Savior’s Birth)

🌟 Come and See!

A Celebration of the Savior’s Birth

A Christmas Cantata for Children’s Choir and Congregation

Opening Narration

opening narration

(Based on Luke 1:26–38)

Narrator:
In the days long ago, in a small town called Nazareth, there lived a young woman named Mary.
Mary loved God very much. She was humble and kind, and she wanted to serve the Lord with all her heart.

One evening, when the world was quiet, an angel from heaven suddenly appeared before her.
His name was Gabriel. His light filled the room, and Mary was afraid — but the angel said,
“Do not be afraid, Mary. You have found favor with God. You will give birth to a Son, and you will call His name Jesus.”

Gabriel told her that her baby would be the Son of God — the promised Savior that the prophets had spoken about.
And though Mary didn’t understand everything, she believed God’s promise.
She said, “I am the Lord’s servant. May it be to me just as you have said.”

An angel came, an angel came,
To tell good news from God.

Verse 1 (Choir)
An angel came to Mary’s home,
A bright light filled the place.
He said the Lord is near to you,
You are full of grace

Do not fear, the angel said
God has chosen you
You will have a baby boy
He will be called Jesus

Chorus (Mary – and choir)
Yes, Lord, I will say,
I will walk Your way.
You can work through me,
Let it be today.

Verse 2 (Choir)
Mary listened, still and calm
and asked how can this be?
The angel said, God's Spirit comes
He will rest on thee.

The Son of God will soon be born
Through you His life will start
He will reign forevermore
The Savior of all hearts

Chorus (Mary – Choir)
Yes, Lord, I will say,
I will walk Your way.
You can work through me,
Let it be today.

Verse 3 (soloist)
Gabriel spoke and then was gone…
The room was still again
Mary knelt and softly prayed
I believe, AMEN

I will walk Your way.
You can work through me,
Let it be today.

Tag (Choir + Mary – Solo)

Narration

(Based on Luke 2:8–15)

Narrator:
That same night, out in the hills near Bethlehem, some shepherds were watching their flocks of sheep.
The stars were shining, and the fields were quiet. It was a night like any other — until suddenly, heaven broke through the darkness!

An angel of the Lord appeared, and the glory of God shone all around them.
The shepherds were terrified, but the angel said,
“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy for all people.
Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you — He is Christ the Lord.”

Then the sky filled with more angels than they could count, praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

When the angels had gone back to heaven, the shepherds said to one another,
“Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
So they hurried off through the night, eager to find the newborn King.

🎵 Song 2 — Good News for Shepherds

Good News for Shepherds

(Inspired by Luke 2:8–17)

Intro:
Out in the fields that night,
Shepherds kept their sheep.
The stars were bright above,
The world was fast asleep.

Verse 1
The shepherds in the fields nearby
Were watching through the night.
When an angel of the Lord appeared,
And filled the sky with light.

Verse 2
The shepherds shook with fear!
Their hearts began to pound.
The angel said, “Fear not,” my friends,
There’s good news all around.

Verse 3
“For unto you this day is born,
A Savior—Christ the Lord.
You’ll find Him in a manger bed,
God’s gift to all the world.”

Chorus (Two Child Soloists — Shepherds)
Let’s go to Bethlehem,
Go and see the thing!
The Lord has told us all about,
We’ll find the newborn King!

Verse 4
Then many angels filled the sky,
Their voices shouted praise.
Saying, “Glory be to God on high,
Goodwill toward men!”

Bridge (Choir — Call/Response)

(Choir B) The sky was filled with light!

(Choir B) Their hearts were full of smiles!

Chorus (Two Child Soloists — Shepherds)
Let’s go to Bethlehem,
Go and see the thing!
The Lord has told us all about,
We’ll find the newborn King!

Tag (Choir + Soloists)
They found the baby, just as said,
A manger was His bed.
We saw the Savior, Christ the Lord,
Just as the angel said.

Narration

(Based on Luke 2:1–7, 16–19)

Narrator:
After hearing the angels, the shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found Mary, Joseph, and the baby — just as they had been told.
Mary had given birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped Him in cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
The shepherds told Mary everything the angels had said. She listened and treasured all these things in her heart.
And there, in that quiet place, the promise of God was resting in her arms.

🎵 Song 3 — Mary Held Her Baby Close

Mary Held Her Baby Close

(Inspired by Luke 2:6–7, 16–19)

Verse 1
Mary held her baby close,
In the stable filled with hay.
The night was still and dark,
And a star showed the way.

Verse 2
Joseph watched and smiled with her,
Beside the manger bed.
Shepherds came and knelt in awe,
Just as angels said.

Verse 3
They told her of the angel’s praise,
And all that they had seen.
She listened and she treasured it,
And thought of what it means.

Chorus
Mary held her baby close,
And softly kissed His face.
She thanked the Lord for keeping
His promise and His grace.

Tag
Mary held her baby close,
The Savior born that day.

Narration

(Based on Luke 2:20; Psalm 98:4)

Narrator:
When the shepherds left, they went back to their fields rejoicing.
They praised God for everything they had heard and seen — it was all just as the angel had told them.
Now, we too can praise the Lord for the gift of His Son, and sing with joy like the angels did on that first Christmas night.

Closing Narration

(Based on Luke 2:19–20; John 1:9–14)

Narrator:
That night in Bethlehem, God’s promise came true.
Jesus was born — the Light of the world, the hope for every heart.
The angels praised Him. The shepherds worshiped Him.
And Mary treasured all these things and thought of what they meant.

The story of Christmas is the story of God’s love —
love so great that He sent His only Son to bring peace to the world.
That’s the good news of great joy, for every one of us.

So Let's keep telling the story,
and let's keep singing the song that began on that night so long ago —
when heaven and earth joined together to say:

All (Choir + Congregation):
“JOY TO THE WORLD THE LORD IS COME!!!”
